Begins tomorrow night at 7 p.m. Jan.31 on Gabriola Island.
It is an event created and hosted by the Gabriola Arts Council. It is a fundraiser for the wonderful, hardworking Arts Council to assist in renovating their new home and office space.
The idea was to give each of 44 artists an old community hall chair, the wood and steel kind that you don’t often see anymore. We were asked to transform these old chairs into works of art! And so we did.
My partner, my metalworker Ode, added new steel uprights with a curvy flair at the top and a support for holding my glass . It also had feet added in the metal shop, which was a fun surprise for me.
As you can see, it had changed a lot from the plain old chair it once was. We named it
This chair can be indoors or out in your garden!
There will be wonderful entertainment, a silent auction of some chairs and a live auction of other chairs. One of the hosts for the evening will be Bill Richardson, formerly of CBC radio fame.
Hope to see you there!
